CS Lewis supposedly once said, "we read to know we are not alone". Sometimes I think that we do a lot of things to know we are not alone. Write, cry, dance? Do we love to know we are not alone? Life is in many respects a celebration of our ability to connect with others, a celebration of togetherness, of the realisation that others have walked, are walking, and will continue to walk the same paths, paths which to us often seem wholly and utterly alienating and lonesome.
